Passionate energy
Barcelona may work till they´re blue in the face, but they´re still a Mediteranean people: wild, creative, fun-loving, noisy and gregarious. As Barcelona´s celebrated Olympic Games of 1992 set out to show the world, Mediterranean high spirits and street life do not have to be synonymous with sloth and inefficiency, and and Barcelonans are capable of first-class technology and efficiency without relinquishing any of their vibrancy and zest. The key to this unique exuberance is that ãpassionate energyä noted by George Orwell in 1937 as he watched Barcelonan men, women and children build barricades in the civil war-torn city. Whatever they do, they give it everything they´ve got.
