Hi, Welcome to Cadaqués. Cadaques is the most charming town near Barcelona on the Costa Brava. This village is located in a natural harbour in the Cap de Creus peninsula.Salvador Dali said this was the most beautiful village in the world. If you stay with me, you will see why he said that.
Dali. He was born in Figueres, but he lived in Cadaques (Port Lligat) since 1920.
Currently many famous painters and writers have a house in Cadaques. I think it’s the place with more artists per square feet in the world! During the 60’s and 70’s this used to be a hippy village. Bohemians, artists and intellectuals were everywhere. Unfortunately things have changed, and although there are still artists and bohemians in Cadaques, currently they are a minority. Nowadays Cadaques is a haute bourgeoisie Summer destination. It is one of the most expensive resorts on the "Costa Brava
Cadaqués is a Summer destination for tourists from all over the world. This village is also well known as an artists destination, especially since Salvador Dali moved to Port Lligat. His stay in this village attracted the attention of many artists, like Pablo Picasso, Andre Breton, Paul Eluard, Man Ray, Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamp, Federico Garcia Lorca, Luis Bunuel, and many others.
If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay you can stay at the campingsite. The camping sits on the road to Port Lligat, in front of this church. It's a 15 minutes walk from the village center.
The Ermita de Sant Baldiri , built in 1602. Saint "Baldiri"'s day used to be a celebration day in Cadaques. Next to this church there's the local cemetery, open to the public.
You get to Port Lligat walking along the road on the left of the Church. In Port Lligat Local fishermen used to have their boats, but Port Lligat is more known because Salvador Dali lived there
Cadaques is famous for its underwater life. If you have a scuba diving license, you have to dive in Cadaques and Cap de Creus ..it’s great!it is a dream to take a look at the rich underwater life
